The History

Bob Karwin began his music career in Boston, Massachusetts on June 4, 1990, playing to drunken mobs in the Irish pubs and college bars. He quickly made a name for himself in Beantown by being able to tame an unruly crowd fired by Guinness and Jack Daniels using only his guitar and a microphone.

In 1993, Bob packed up his Jeep and moved to sunny San Diego. His blend of humor and thoughtful songwriting struck a chord with Southern Californians and he began to develop a following at his rowdy one man shows.  Bob is now a full fledged Californian, strolling the beaches and vowing to never shovel a driveway ever again.

The CDs

Though the '90s, Bob ran the circuit of the clubs and colleges, writing the tunes that would eventually comprise his 1999 debut release, "A Little Something for Everyone." The cd met with critical acclaim.  Richard Meltzer of the San Diego Reader wrote, "Bob Karwin is everything music is about." Cole Coleman of the Los Angeles magazine Music Connection found Bob's original songs "well-crafted, witty, sensitive at times," noting his voice to be "reminiscent of Jim Croce."

This release launched Bob's parrothead career when his song, "California Sunshine," received regular rotation on Jimmy Buffett's on-line radio station, Radio Margaritaville.

Bob has released five cds, including his latest offering, "Have Sun, Will Travel"  Each cd features Bob's trademark blend of wit, variety, and hummable rhythms.  Bob has also released a cd of all original, island-style music for children under his alias, Coconut Bob.  Check out Coconut Bob's "Parakeet Island" and you just may get that Wiggles cd out of the player after all.

The Philosophy

Bob performs solo, with no drum machines, backing tracks or band members. People often ask, "Why don't you get a band?" Bob answers, "Sure, a full band is louder, but a guy with a guitar who really knows what he is doing can connect with the crowd and really bring the house down. The audience is my band." You have to see it to believe it.

The Credentials

Today, Bob is known as an exciting live performer who offers fun, upbeat songs spiced with humor and plenty of energy. His cds have each received regular rotation on Jimmy Buffett's internet radio station, Radio Margaritaville as well as many other broadcast and internet stations.
